About

About Harrow Judo

Harrow Judo exists to support long-term, meaningful growth — on the mat and beyond. We see judo as a lifelong study: one that builds strength, discipline, and a quiet confidence that stays with you.

Our club is guided by the belief that every judoka should be welcomed, challenged, and supported at every stage of their journey. We work with children, teens, and adults — complete beginners, returning practitioners, and those looking to refine and extend their training.

Founded by 6th Dan coach Paul Ajala, Harrow Judo is closely connected with The Budokwai — the UK’s oldest and most respected judo institution. Keen and committed students who train regularly with us have a clear, supported pathway into Budokwai sessions, where they can experience broader randori, competition prep, and senior-level practice. This bridge is made possible through Paul and Harrow’s associated coaches (see coach bios), all of whom are long-standing Budokwai members.

Classes at Harrow Judo blend modern coaching with respect for tradition — offering structured training, positive challenge, and access to formal kata practice for those who wish to go deeper into the classical art. Paul is also a qualified British Judo kata examiner, ensuring that this specialist training is both authentic and expertly delivered.

Whether you’re training for fun, fitness, focus, or future achievement, we’re here to help you move forward — throw by throw.
